We know that the early years of a child’s education are crucial to their long-term success in learning. As a College, we believe your child deserves a start in life that will engage them academically, but also develop their character and emotional intelligence.
Young children possess an innate curiosity to wonder, ask questions and search for meaning in their surroundings and encounters. Harnessing their capacity for new experiences and environments in our Early Learning Centre is essential in this distinct developmental phase.
Through a balanced approach, we are building resilient, confident, creative and adaptive young learners. At OPAC, student progress is measured not only by academic success, but by the formation of character, relationships and preparation for life beyond the classroom.
Children enrolling into Preparatory are well prepared to begin their formal years of schooling. Our program is intentionally designed to provide an appropriate blend of play-based and structured learning activities, suited to the distinct development stages of our youngest learners. Each child’s instinctive curiosity is encouraged through the creation of rich environments and experiences that emphasise the development of strong foundations in Literacy and Numeracy to prepare them for the transition to Kindergarten.
Children aged four and five may be enrolled into one of the following classes:
- Three-day program: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- Two-day program: Thursday, Friday
As part of the wider College community, Preparatory students participate in many OPAC activities, engaging with other students across our integrated Prep to Year 12 campus. In this way, they feel included in the community, providing many opportunities for you and your child to form foundational relationships with staff and families that may carry right through their learning journey and beyond.
