Teaching Kids to Be Brave

A warm welcome to our new families joining OPAC! Starting at a new school and making new friends takes courage, and we commend you for taking this important step toward building resilience. Courage is one of OPAC’s five core values and plays a key role in our learning framework.

This term, we are focusing on persistence, managing distractions, taking responsible risks, and staying open to learning and new ideas. Courage is a crucial part of developing resilience, which is essential for mental well-being. Resilience is the ability to recover from challenges, setbacks, and stress, and is a skill that children can strengthen over time with the support and guidance of caring adults. By fostering resilience, children not only learn to navigate present difficulties but also develop a mindset that prepares them to face future challenges with confidence.

All children have the capacity to overcome obstacles and manage stress, but they need opportunities to practice these skills. The latest article from SchoolTV offers valuable tips for parents on teaching courage, which plays a vital role in building resilience.

God bless,
