Who Else Might Be Shaping Your Children’s Values?

Influencers
As our children grow, they’re constantly making choices that shape who they are and who they’ll become. We want those choices to be guided by a strong moral compass, rooted in the teachings of Christ. By encouraging our kids to engage with biblical values, we can help them navigate life’s challenges with love, kindness, and integrity. In a world filled with so many voices, it’s more important than ever that they trust in Christ to lead them in the right direction.

We know that mistakes are part of growing up—whether it’s struggling with schoolwork or making missteps in friendships. Today’s culture also exposes our children to negative influences, like those from figures such as Andrew Tate and other influencers who promote harmful and misguided values. These voices can lead our kids astray, making it even more important that we, as a community, guide them back to what’s right. At our school, we work with students using restorative practices that help them reflect, take responsibility, and grow in empathy, all while staying true to Christian principles.

Our goal is to help students become thoughtful, compassionate individuals who can make good choices, even when life gets complicated. By supporting them through their mistakes with understanding and by grounding their moral compass in the teachings of Christ, we’re helping them build the wisdom and confidence they need to make positive decisions. We can create a loving environment where our children feel empowered to learn, grow, and thrive.

We have all made mistakes in our lives, some having significant impact on ourselves and others. Actually, if you are like me, you are still making mistakes, just less due to experience and wisdom that is rooted in Christianity. The below video is a brutal but fascinating window into the life of Shane Taylor, regarding his wayward and criminal choices before accepting Jesus as his Lord, Saviour and ‘influencer’. Well worth a watch if you have a few minutes spare.

The Land of the Rising Sun comes to OPAC

Our friends from Tachibana High School in Tokyo have landed in Sydney and are now experiencing the Australian culture through classroom experiences and homestays with OPAC families. They will be here for the next week, learning our customs, improving their English and forming potentially long-lasting friendships. Thank you to the families who have welcomed them into your homes. I’m sure they will always remember the next week with fondness.

God bless,

Year 8 Canberra Education Tour

Recently, stage 5 HSIE students went on an educational excursion to Canberra, diving into Australia’s rich history, culture, and democracy through visits to iconic sites like the Australian War Memorial, the National Archives, and Parliament House.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
