Celebrating Mothers and Cultivating Curiosity
May 21st is a special day on the global calendar—World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Established by the United Nations, this day reminds us to engage with diverse cultures and celebrate our community, fostering inclusion and wellbeing throughout the year. It’s a time to reflect on the richness of cultural diversity and the importance of dialogue, inclusion, and cooperation among people from all cultural backgrounds.
The cultural and creative sector is a powerful engine of development worldwide, accounting for over 48 million jobs globally, according to UNESCO. This highlights the significance of cultural diversity not just in terms of social harmony but also in economic development.
In celebration of this important day, our college community is gearing up for an exciting event—our first Multicultural Expo, set for Thursday 30 May. This event promises to be a vibrant showcase of cultural diversity, featuring a range of activities and displays created by our students.
Junior School students have been actively engaged in inquiry projects, exploring various cultural groups through research, art and dance activities. Their creative works will be on display, showcasing the beauty of diverse artistic expressions. We also invite our Junior School families to join us for this celebration. A community picnic lunch will offer a delightful opportunity for togetherness, enhanced by the chance to savour delicious meals from Italian and Indian food trucks and special Canteen Lunch Packs (please note these are pre-order only).
Senior School students have delved into the world of international games and sports, preparing for a tabloid carnival where they will demonstrate and participate in games from different cultures. Senior School students are also welcome to pre-order lunch from both the food trucks and the canteen.
From Kindergarten to Year 10, students will benefit from an interactive incursion by Cultural Immersion. This program aims to build intercultural understanding and forge meaningful connections, providing our students with an enriching experience that broadens their perspectives.
